Jacob learned to do WHAT?!?

Okay I know from the title it sounds like Jacob has learned how to clean the house and pay the bills at the same time...a skill usually resevered for myself and Matt. No he hasn't quite learned those things yet, but here's what he has learned....

He's learned that keys are not for him to stick in his mouth, but they have much greater purpose like they some how go in doors...

He's learned how to climb up onto the chair in the dinning room, it's kinda scary because we have a high table. When I sit in the chairs my feet don't touch the ground.....Then the other day I walked out into the kitchen and he was sitting there at the table eating some leftover snacks and found a sippy cup from somewhere..I guess I need to start cleaning my house again....

Now we think he's going to be right handed, but for some reason he's holding the spoon in his left hand....

And yes he's reading already although it's just blabbing....It's so great! His favorite book is "The Little Mouse, The Red Ripe Strawberry and the Big Hungry Bear."

He's such an awesome kid we love him!

More Magnets

I decided today I needed magnets that matched my kitchen. Our accent color in our kitchen is a brick red. I've made these before around Christmas using snowflake paper and forgot to take them down, so I was thinking, it's 110 degrees outside, it's definitely time for the snowflakes to come down. So I made some today and it's hard to tell from the picture how cute they turned out. And then I also used buttons...just hot glue the magnet right one the back. I love buttons they seem to make every craft just a little bit better......

Cookie Monster!

I love chocolate chip cookies. But they don't love me. I can't bake. I made cookies today and they were so yummy out of the oven but an hour later they were hard as a rock. How do I know when to pull them out of the oven? I always follow the directions, and think yes this time i've done it! But no.... Anyways I need a fail proof recipe, one that can not be messed up. So PLEASE for the sake of my cookie cravings please help! Thanks!

Recycle-Reduce-Reuse

Do you ever get those magnet advertisements, And wonder..."Why would I want to put this ugly thing on my fridge?" I mean yes they can be handy...but between pics, random coupons, shopping list and who knows what else, I usually toss them. But not anymore! I'm excited to get them! I've found a purpose for them....glue some cute paper on them and TADA! you have a cute magnet...

I made these today for the women I visit teach at church. They turned out pretty cute.

And yes I did blur out our phone numbers...I didn't think my visiting teacher partner would want her numbers out there for all see....

Hope you have a great day!

Puppy for a day

We've been talking about getting a puppy recently and so yesterday we went to PetSmart to see the dogs up for adoption. We went to a few stores before I (Matt) fell in love with Bailey. The rescue shelter said she was a boxer/lab mix. We asked a bunch of questions: how big will she get? will she be good with kids? etc. The lady said she would only get to around 30-35 lbs and was great with kids. Shannon had a bad feeling, but of course I was already in love with her so Shannon reluctantly agreed.

When we were filling out the paperwork, I noticed that the info from Animal Control said she was a pit bull. I asked the lady and she said the dog was definitely a boxer. We got her food and bowls and a crate. She was smart and even went to the bathroom outside (except a few times).

I decided to do some research to figure out if this was really a boxer/lab mix. What I found was kind of disturbing. There were lots of pictures of pit bulls and boxers that looked like her. There were also a lot of people saying that rescue shelters will say it's a boxer just to get it adopted. I told Shannon and she definitely did not want a pit bull. Usually we like to research things and know exactly what we are getting before we make a purchase.

The more we thought about it, the more we felt it wasn't the right time - we weren't ready. So, today we took her back with teary eyes. Are we horrible people because we returned a puppy?!? We had to return all the other stuff so we don't start missing her. Next time, we'll make sure we are ready before I hold another puppy :) Looking back at it, I think we were just missing Jacob (he spent the night at Grandma's)

For those of you that are dog experts, judge for yourself whether she is a pit bull mix or boxer mix.

Friday Challenge - My Pink Stamper!

So today we were challenged do try something new. I've seen this done before and never thought to do it and it was so easy. I grabbed out some of my scrap ribbon and I don't know what to call it? I guess my own paper? Or embellishment? I don't know...But I did take some pics along the way so you can see how I made it. And I love this card, it's so cute I might have to make one for myself to keep forever....Hope you guys like it!

First I laid out the ribbon in the order I wanted. Then I ran my double stick tape over the paper, so the ribbon would stick.

Heres what it looks like when your done, and then cut down the top ( I used my fiskars cutting board and just pushed extra hard and it cut perfect all the way through ribbon and paper) trim off the extra at the bottom.

TADA! Isn't it cute I love it! (Sorry I pics are kinda blurry)

Pink Stamper- Thursday Challenge

Today our challenge was to make a card using things you love. I was so excited because I love STARS! And for some reason I never use them. And I also love pink and black, for some reason I use a lot of earth tones when scrap booking or card making....But I love stars, as you can see from my cutting board I have stars on it, I also have them on my circut . And my one and only tattoo is a shooting Star on my foot. So anyways I hope you like my card!

My Pink Stamper- Wednesday Challenge

Since school is staring up soon, our Challenge today was to go along with that theme. Making a scrapbook page, card, gift for the teacher etc... My son is only 18 months old, so I thought I go with a gift that could be given to a teacher. In my case it will go to my mother-in-law, and she does teach my son lots of things... So that counts right?

I made a "post it note" holder, that can go your desk. It was so super simple. I got
this idea from "chic-n-scratch" So I can't take all the credit.

And yes the pen dose match, here's how you do it-

First take apart the pen and cut your paper -

Second roll your paper tightly and slide into the tube- And Last put your pen back together! So easy and cute!

I like to use "RSVP" or "Pilot" brand pens. RSVP is nice b/c it's wider and easier to get the paper in. But you can see the gold "RSVP" writing on the side. The piliot pen writing is clear but it has a smaller tube....So I'd say try both and see which one you like best!

Pink Stamper Tuesday Challenge

Robyn, at My Pink Stamper.com, has challenged us to make something with an item we just had to have in the past. When I first started scrap booking I just had to have stickers and buttons! I still love buttons and use them all the time, but stickers not so much. For some projects they save me a lot of time, and just add that pop to the page. But I've learned that it's more about the pictures and not the embellishments. Using this way of thinking has saved me lots of time, and made it possible for me get my scrap booking done. Now I have a ton of stickers! (almost afraid to count the packs) So today I made a card trying to use one of my stickers and a few buttons. I also tired to use only my scraps. I recently got super organized and could not believe how many scraps I had! So here it is- If your lucky maybe you'll get in the mail....hehe...

I love my son but when I'm doing some sort of craft I must lock him away in his room (just using the baby gate, one of the best purchases ever!). While I was making this card he was crying for a few minutes and then suddenly stopped. I went to check on him and this is what I found.
